Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNICE GIESBRECHT
Bernice Giesbrecht, beloved wife of Vince for 68 years, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed peacefully on January 10, 2026, surrounded by family and the sound of her favorite hymns. Her life was a symphony of faith, compassion and purpose, a melody that echoed through every church she sang in and person she inspired.
Born on July 19, 1932, in Winnipeg, Bernice discovered her love for music early in life. That passion became the steady rhythm of her journey from singing in public for the first time at the age of 4, to singing in and directing her church choir, and singing with the Faith To Live By chorus. She believed that music was one of God’s purest blessings.
Beyond her musical gifts, Bernice built a meaningful teaching career rooted in service, dedication and excellence. She approached her work with the same grace she brought to her ministry, touching colleagues and friends alike with her integrity, patience and kindness.
Bernice is survived by her son Gordon (Debra); her granddaughters Jen (Will) and Drea; and her great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Cole, Teagan and Emmett. She will be remembered for her warm spirit and the music she carried in her heart and shared with so many.
A celebration of her life and faith will be held in the Buntain Chapel, Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St., on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed at calvarytemple.ca/funerals.
Special thanks to the staff at Pembina Place Mennonite PCH 2nd floor for their exceptional care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Calvary Place Personal Care Home in Bernice’s memory (online at canadahelps.org, search Calvary Place Personal Care Home).
